Prince George Community Arts Council

Summer Day Camp of the Arts is a recreational alternative to traditional day care programs. The program is designed for children ages 6-11 (must have kindergarten completed).  The Day Camp program is designed to meet the challenge of caring for school age children during the months of July and August while giving them something fun and educational to do!

The program is divided into theme weeks. Parents have the option of enrolling their children in the Camp for part or all of the summer holidays. Our program is designed to incorporate arts and recreation into day-long activities that create a positive environment and a positive experience for children.

Each year two university students enrolled in a relevant program are hired to run the program. The Summer Day Camp program assists these students in earning money for their continued education and in giving them hands-on experience in working towards their career goals.

Types of Activities

The Summer Day Camp is designed around themed weeks. Each week will be packed full of arts, recreational, and educational activities as well as field trips according to that theme.

Information and Dates

The program runs from July 5th to August 13th. The hours of operation are: 9:00am-4:30pm. For your convenience, drop-off is 8:30am-9:00am and pick-up is by 4:30pm-5:15pm. A late fee of $10 will be charged for any pick-ups after 5:15pm.

Week 1: July 5th - 9th

Go Green!

During this week your child will learn about environmental issues that threaten the health of our planet and how they can help counter-act these global concerns.

Cost is $160 (+HST)

 

Week 2: July 12th - 16th   

Mysteries, Maps, and Riddles!

Can you figure it out? What’s that? Who did it? Where are we? Become a detective, discover new places, and have fun with friends while trying to unravel the mysteries of camp. During this week your child will discover the City of Prince George's heritage community and will embark on adventures that expand their local knowledge.

Week 3: July 19th - 23th 

Ooey Gooey and Slimey Too!

Get ready for a wacky week of icky, sticky, silly stuff that you create and take home. This isn't for the light hearted; it goes way past your school science project! Come dressed to get dirty! (no harmful chemicals will be used in these experiments).

 Cost is $160 (+HST)

    

Week 4: July 26th - 30th

All Forms Creative!

During this week your child will be introduced to various art forms, such as clay, drama and music, which will expand your child's artistic knowledge base while having fun!

Week 5:August 3rd - 6th

  Culinary Delights!

During this week your child will have the opportunity to bake or cook international foods and learn about the many different cultures around the globe!  Your child will also be learning about what a healthy and balanced diet includes and how to maintain this type of diet by making nutritional choices.

 Cost is $145 (+HST)

Week 6:    August 9th - 13th

Camp Rewind!

Did you want to be Ooey, Gooey and Slimey just one more time this summer? Did you want to be creative just one more time? How about more maps mysteries and riddle? Then you're in luck. We're spending this week of camp revisiting all of our favorite activities and games as we put the entire summer on rewind!
